Judge Anita A. Sukola attended Santa Barbara Catholic School in Dededo, Guam since kindergarten. She then attended John F. Kennedy High School and graduated in 1969. After high school, she attended the University of Guam for two years and continued on at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington where she was awarded a Bachelors of Arts Degree in History and Secondary Education in 1973.

Judge Sukola returned home to Guam and began her teaching career at Simon Sanchez Junior High School for two years and moved to George Washington Senior High School for one year as an American and Guam History Teacher. While a full-time teacher she earned a Master's Degree in School Administration and Supervision.

In 1977-78, Judge Sukola entered law school, however, due to her mother's illness and subsequent death, she returned to Guam. After the loss of her mother, she resumed her studies at People's College of Law in Los Angeles, California and graduated in 1983.

Judge Sukola immediately returned to Guam and began her legal career as Staff Attorney for Senator Don Parkinson in the 17th Guam Legislature. She then moved to the Superior Court of Guam and clerked for the Honorable Paul J. Abbate and Ramon Diaz. After passing the Guam Bar exam, she joined the work force of attorneys at the Public Defender's Office for approximately three and a half years. In 1987, Judge Sukola was appointed as Deputy Director to the Department of Education (DOE). In 1988, she was confirmed as the Director for the Department of Education where she served in this capacity until 1991. During her tenure at DOE, she served as Chairperson for the Retirement Fund Board for eight years. In August 1991, Judge Sukola left the Department of Education to venture into private practice with the late Justice Monessa G. Lujan.

During her private practice years, Judge Anita Sukola served as Legal Counsel for the Port Authority of Guam Board of Directors from 1992-1994. She also served as Legal Counsel to the Chamorro Land Trust with the late Justice Monessa Lujan and drafted their initial Rules and Regulations allowing for the eventual leasing of Trust properties. During the 25th Guam Legislature, Judge Sukola served as Legal Counsel for Dr. L. Kasperbauer, Chairman on the Committee on Education.

Aside from her legal profession, Judge Sukola maintained her love for teaching by accepting a full-time assistant Professor position at the University of Guam in 1997. She taught Criminal Justice classes ranging from Criminal Law to Constitutional Law to students who eventually graduated and entered into the various areas of law, police, probation, social work and other security and military organizations. Her career of teaching were times with the University of Guam as an adjunct professor.
